Combine the best sites of the Moroccan desert, from a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city to towering dunes, on this private 4-day tour from Marrakech. Travelling with a private driver ensures a personalised experience, so you can take in some of the country’s highlights your way. Spending the night in a desert camp is a chance to experience the Sahara at its most pristine, when the hikers leave and the constellations rise above the sand.
Day 1 : Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora
Tizi n Tichka: Your desert trip starts from Your stay in Marrakech We will drive through the Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass. On the way the views are quite splendid, we will stop to enjoy the panoramic views and photography, we will make 2 or 3 stops for photos
Ouarzazate: where you will have lunch before crossing the Draa River to continue to Zagora, which has given rise to a vast oasis that stretches for 200 km in the foothills of the Anti Atlas Mountains.
Zagora: Dinner and overnight at the Zagora hotel.
Day 2 : Zagora – Mhamid – Erg Chigaga
Zagora: After breakfast we will begin our journey to Mhamid el Ghazlan
Tamgrout: We will have the opportunity to visit one of the oldest Koranic libraries in Morocco, in the nearby kasbah famous for its pottery factory.
M'Hamid: We will have lunch in M'hamid, the last village at the gates of the largest desert in the world that exists on the African continent.
Erg Chigaga: After lunch, in the afternoon we will leave for Erg Chigaga, passing through different desert features; 'Erg', 'Reg', 'Hammadas and oases. In the remote sand dunes of Erg Chigaga, there is only silence, protected from civilization. Camel riding in the Sahara desert will allow you to see the spectacular sunsets over the dunes that change color, after having dinner under the stars by the campfire, the local nomads will entertain you with their local music. We will spend the night at your camp in the Sahara desert.
Day 3 : Erg chigaga – Foum zguid – Ouarzazate
Erg Chigaga: Watch the sunset and ride a camel. Then, have breakfast before going to Foum Zgiude.
Foum Zguid: with varied landscapes: first, cross the flat salt lake of Iriqui and the Anti Atlas mountains, following the old route of the "Paris Dakar Rally". In the next village, Foum Zguid, the paved road starts directly after the desert.
Taznakht: in the afternoon, continue to Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets.
Ouarzazate: arrival in Ouarzazate, dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 4 : Ouarzazate – kasbah ait ben haddou – Marrakech.
Ouarzazate: Breakfast and departure to Ait Ben Hadou
Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou: Today we will head to the next stop, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Hadou. Lunch can be served in Marrakech or in Ait Ben Hadou, depending on the time.
Tizi n Tichka: We continue our journey to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n'Tichka pass.
Marrakech: Arrival at 17:00 hrs. After your 4-day Marrakech to Erg Chigaga desert tour, you will be dropped off at your Marrakech hotel/Riad or a location of your choice.
